Time Line Therapy

TLT provides one of the most powerful processes and techniques for personal change and growth (in business, relationships, and life) by facilitating the elimination of the painful emotions attached to memories or events in the past.

TLT also focuses on what we can learn from those events and use what we learn as a resource for the future.

Time Line Therapy® utilizes a person’s own internal “Time Line” to work with their unconscious minds in a variety of ways; including, healing emotional traumas and eradicating unwanted thoughts, triggers, reactions, emotions, patterns, and behaviors.

Your “Time Line” is how you unconsciously store your memories or how you unconsciously know the difference between a memory from the past and a projection of the future.

Behavioral change in an individual takes place at an unconscious level.

As much as we wish we could, people don’t change consciously.

The Time Line Therapy® techniques allow you to work at the unconscious level and release the effects of past negative experiences and change “inappropriate” programming in minutes rather than days, months, or years.

Time Line Therapy™ techniques and practical processes produce long-lasting transformation much quicker than what is currently called "brief therapy", with a minimum of discomfort to the client.

Some examples of painful emotions include anger, rage, sadness, hurt, regret, fear, guilt, and remorse.

TLT also enables you to clear limiting beliefs that can leave you stuck in the past and stop you from creating what you want in your life. Both unwanted negative emotions and limiting beliefs influence every area of our lives.

Time Line Therapy® is based on NLP and hypnosis theories and has been so successful in its results that it has been utilized since 1986 by thousands of people including psychiatrists, psychologists, marriage and family counselors, social workers, life and business coaches, and even athletic coaches.

How can Time Line Therapy™ help me?

One of the many advantages of TLT is that it enables you to release, clear gestalt or (chains) of an emotion rather than one at a time as most other emotional release techniques do.

For example, if you have anger issues, TLT facilitates the release and clearing of all anger from the past and not just the anger attached to a particular event. In other words, anger is released from its roots.

The goal of Time Line Therapy®

The goal of Time Line Therapy® is to subtly and unconsciously change the client’s behavior patterns so that they can react to present experiences based on present conditions and not react to situations that present themselves today based on emotions linked to previous life events. The technique relies on reprogramming a person’s response and behavior mechanism in such a way as to bring about a healthier sense of well-being.

What to expect from Time Line Therapy®

The Time Line Therapy® technique allows you to move past these limiting beliefs and personal constrictions in your life.

Through practical application, a person can be guided to access specific memories and learn how to disconnect from the negative feelings associated with those memories. This allows a person to liberate themselves from their prior belief system and instead create new, more positive affirmations and beliefs which they can use to propel them to a fuller and more enriching life.

As a practitioner of TLT requires a high level of competency, it is not something a therapist could learn over a weekend or two unless they have a sound knowledge of both hypnosis and NLP. As an example, TLT processes use NLP reframing extensively. Time Line Therapy™ is the registered trademark of Tad James and is exclusively licensed by the Time Line Therapy™ Association.

Here’s an example:

Have you ever been talking to someone and they said something to you and you reacted in a way that (even for you) seemed a little extra?  Or maybe you get a strong response to certain personality types, environments, or circumstances and you don’t know why?  This is one way to know that you might be reacting to something in your past.

Sometimes certain words, experiences, phrases, or people remind us unconsciously of things in our past that we have not fully resolved yet.  Perhaps a relationship didn’t end well… or you grew up in a toxic family environment… or you had a bad or significant emotional experience as a child, in school, or even at work.

If you find that something triggers you, in a way that in hindsight is much bigger than maybe you feel it should have been (or if you are running into the same old experiences or people over and over again), that might be an indication that you’re reacting to something in the past… to an old experience.

For example, if you have an experience that triggers a deep memory from the past, or feels familiar to something in the past, that is an indication that you’re actually not responding to the event itself but some old experience from the past. These triggers can keep you stuck in those old emotions, and patterns and prevent you from being able to move forward and be at peace.

In Timeline Therapy, we disconnect the emotion, the old negative emotion, and then we give it new context and meaning to that you learn from the thing that originally gave that emotion.  This is why it is so powerful.

It doesn’t take away your ability to feel emotions, it just has you react to what’s happening in the present (rather than reacting to what happened in the past) so that you can actually be free to move forward with a healthy emotional response in the future.

In essence, this technique relies on subconscious self-reprogramming of one’s response and behavior mechanism.

Timeline Therapy actually allows you to respond, feel and behave composed and predictably, because it addresses the old root cause of the negative emotion and unplugs the charge of that old conclusion/conversation/experience/dynamic that has locked you in place, and impacts your present-day experience.

Once we remove the old conclusion, and the negative experience, and unplug the root causes, you will feel a sense of freedom, power, peace, and confidence, and it’ll open you up to experience more fully, be more present, and feel more fulfilled.

When this happens you are able to perform more powerfully, see more clearly, feel lighter and move with more ease and joy in your life.

This will propel you into a fuller and richer day-to-day experience. And not only will you notice it, but your family, your colleagues, your boss, your friends, and the people around you will also notice.
